exploring canadiana

We share a border but not a culture - this is the most surprising revelation I've had over the course of my immigration from the U.S. to Canada. The cultural differences aren't immediately obvious upon crossing the border, but are nuances that can only be truly appreciated once you spend significant time in both countries.

Since landing in Canada, I've learned (among other things) that there are no $1 bills, milk comes in bags, Hershey Bars don't taste the same and the F-bomb is allowed on TV.

I'll explore these Canadian idiosyncrasies in an ongoing series of posts titled "Exploring Canadiana." I'm eager to see just how many I can find. I think it's enough to fill a whole book (hint hint to any editors reading this).
